I’m a high school English teacher with an addiction to anything sweet and good books. I’d like to think of myself as the princess of the castle, but my children often remind me that being a princess is overrated. I am fortunate to have married my knight in shining armor who sweeps in and rescues me from my hectic and crazy life.
I love to create new worlds through my writing as an author. My small-town upbringing and first-hand experience with farm life created a love affair with the land, especially the prairie. The vast openness may seem empty but don’t let that fool you. It is full of life and promise for a brighter tomorrow. My writing also centers around family. As the oldest of five, I understand both the bond siblings share and the frustrations we can have toward one another.
Writing is not my only literary love. As a self-proclaimed grammar geek, I love to correct other people’s grammar and even try to teach it every once in a while. Yes, I’m that person! My husband is used to it by now, and my English students just attribute it to their English teacher going crazy. Again.
My hope is to bring people a brief respite from the world’s troubles. If I can do that, even if it’s for a few minutes, I will count myself successful.
